Being an entrepreneur with an idea that turned into a viable product is not just empowering and freeing, it is scary, nerve wracking and very risky business. And it is the best advice I could give someone who is struggling with finding their path and purpose in their profession as I was in 2013.

I Lost My Buzz

In 2013, I found myself struggling with my professional identity and my confidence was going down a slippery slope, which I write about in my blog The Decision That Changed Them All. This led me personally, and my family collectively, to embark on a 14 month journey of exploration and intentional living.

During these 14 months I realized that an idea for a project doesn’t need to be complicated, complex or colossal in measure, certainly it can, but it doesn’t need to be. It can be a small idea with intention that has passion or an idea that is meant to disrupt the standard business practice, otherwise know as disruptive technology.

With that, it is with great pride and gratitude that I share with you what we have been up to these past five months.

We even had our first guest blogger Professor Eric C. Christian who wrote about Expanding Pride on our Workplace following the U.S. Supreme Courts ruling on Same Sex Marriage.

The Birth of the Book

On August 15, 2015 we released our first children’s picture book The Toothless Fairy. This book has been a labor of love for me and I am forever grateful for the team that helped to make this book a reality. The Toothless Fairy is a 32 page children’s picture book about longing for friendship and the mysteries around Halloween.

More than anything, the sad, lonely Toothless Fairy wants a friend to play with, but with her single tooth and face full of warts, she feels unlovable and fears she will scare other kids away. But when Halloween comes around, she notices the kids are not afraid of all the scary costumes. Realizing this might be her chance to make a friend, she comes up with a brilliant plan, and that is how a new Halloween tradition begins.

Audience

Parents, grandparents and others who read this book can:

  • Explore with children the feelings of being different
  • Share the importance of friendship and how each friendship can be a unique experience
  • Experience the magic of Halloween
  • Teach children about sharing and caring
  • Create opportunities to share the potential of excess candy during Halloween
  • Have the opportunity to create new family traditions around Halloween
